Non-Toxic Living
Toxic doesn’t sound good; it sounds scary. It sounds like a word that you and your family should avoid. That much you probably know. But what does non-toxic really mean in relation to your everyday shopping, and why is non-toxic living so important?
By definition, a toxin is a chemical substance that can damage an organism. Unfortunately, many of these chemicals are unrecognized and unregulated in manufacturing.
But why would corporations be trying to hurt consumers by using dangerous toxins? Unfortunately, corporations often use toxins because they’re cheaper, easier to acquire, more effective (e.g. for cleaning or removing pests), unresearched, or addictive (to keep you coming back for more, like in the case of cigarettes or E-cigs). Don’t make the mistake of thinking just because a corporation is large and powerful that it’s dedicated to preserving your health. In fact, careless and rapid mass production is one of the reasons why non-toxic living is so crucial.

Why Toxin-Free Products Are Important
There was once a time before lead regulation existed at all. Birth defects, early deaths, and disabilities were just a few of the tragedies that happened when corporations used lead cheaply and without legal consequence. Toxin-free products keep us safe from harm, and we’re always working to bring consumer awareness that leads to stronger regulation. Better for our health, better for the environment, and better for our future.
We Carry Out In-Depth Research
Every brand at 4 The Greater Good is researched extensively before we carry them. We don’t choose brands because of flashy marketing. We’re always wary of greenwashing (pretending products are eco-friendly to target eco-conscious consumers). We consult trusted sources like Toxic Free Future, the Environmental Working Group, and much, much more for the science we need to form an opinion.
Non-toxic living takes a lot of time and effort. It would be so much faster and easier just to pick up the first product you see at the grocery store. But we believe non-toxic living is important for us, for you, and for our planet so we’re happy to do all the grunt work necessary.
Being a conscious consumer can be exhausting, but once you start digging into what goes into the everyday products around you, you’ll understand how important it is. Besides, that’s why we created our sustainable store! We do the research and share our findings with our community to save you time and help improve your life.
